Yummy Ozzie Tucker..Australian Foods You Must Try.

This is for tourists who are already visiting and transient travellers who are coming to Oz or a contemplating on coming to Oz.
You cannot leave without trying the wonderful foods on offer here.
Let's start with the most magnificent seafood in the world. I have travelled to many countries around the world and I am very hesitant in eating any seafood anyhwere else but Oz.
Divine Western Australian Lobsters, South Australian King George Whiting, delicious Yamba Prawns , Mud Crabs , Crabs , Snapper ,Oysters from many parts of Oz, Scallops and much much more.
To sit in a reastaurant or the fish markets and have a Seafood Platter or Chilli Crab in Oz is a sight to behold.
Sydney has an amazing Fish Markets where many tourists come and visit to eat the fresh seafood and take in the sights and smells of fresh seafood.
Then there are the divine wines of South Australia,from the Barossa , Mclaren Vale, Coonawarra and so on , brilliant reds and whites.
South Australian wines are my favourite of all and the wineries I love the best are Wirra Wirra , Turkey Flat, Bethany, Yalumba , some Grant Burge of course and Henschke wines. There are many more I have tried and enjoyed but these ones I return to .
Magill Estate in the Adelaide Hills has one of the best menus for a Degustation , superb wines that go with the dinner, a must try when in Adelaide. Also do the winery tour it is magnificent piece of history.
NSW has the Hunter Valley for wines and over the years the wines have just improved as the restaurants also. Margan Estate wines are special as is the little restaurant attached to the winery. Cullen wines is a favourite wine of our whole family.
When visiting the Hunter one must definitely try the culinary delight as they are all very unique.
Sydney has some amazing restaurants & cafes as does Melbourne and one must try as many as possible . The food is very cosmopolitan , from Greek, to German , Hungarian , Italian , Lebanese, French , and so on.
Wines in Victoria are also very very good and must be tried.
Queensland offers wonderful fruits , nuts and seafood. I have visited many of the usual tourists places of Surfer's Paradise & hinterland , Noosa , Cairns, Palm Cove, Port Douglas and so on. Food wise , restaurants are okay but nothing to rave about . Queensland has the sights and the location of magnificent rain forest , beaches and resorts but I have not struck a restaurant or cafe that I can say lingers on in my tatse buds or memory .
Fruits like pineapple , persimmon, and other exotic fruits do stay in the memory bank and must be tried .
Western Australia has great seafood .White wines from the Maragaret river region are also very good. As for restaurants and food generally in WA , not as good as the eastern states I must say .
You the traveller must though try the everyday food we Australian thrive on and make us the unique robusts beings we are , the delicious treats of Vegemite , will not tell you what it is , try it. Spread on Vita Weat biscuits......( that is a Clue!!!)
Tim Tam Biscuits, very naughty and terrible for the waistline, Weat Bix, for brekky .
Some good old pies , we do have some amazing pie shops , more gourmet style now a days . Our lamb cutlets (lamb chops ) are sensational with a little Greek added to the equation in recipe , that is oregano and lemon added to it, popped on the barbie with great steaks and sausages.
Lots of salads with our BBQ. Very healthy for you .
Ah yes, Lamingtons, Pavlova , not to be missed , you can try and work out what this is should you visit Oz.( Ask for one!!!)
